Lloyd Stogsdill's Obituary
On Sunday, April 28, 2024, Lloyd Richard “Rick” Stogsdill, loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away at the age of 75.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Violet Stogsdill, and his brother, Glen Newman Jr., and sister, Shirley Stogsdill. He is survived by his son Rick (Kristi) Stogsdill, stepdaughters, Tina (Bob) Mattern, and Tammy (Keith) Fox; granddaughters, Dallas and Madison; sisters, Connie (Bill) Ketler and Kathy Myers; nieces and nephews, Holly, Rob, Katie, Rachel, Daniel, and Aaron; and a number of cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends.
Rick was born November 15, 1948, to Lloyd and Violet Stogsdill and grew up in the Sawyerwood neighborhood in Akron, Ohio. Rick proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. After returning home, Rick spent over 30 years working in the pest-control industry.
Rick loved anything sports related. He enjoyed playing softball and was active in several church leagues over the years. He was an avid fisherman and loved woodworking in his spare time.
Rick was a quiet but kind man who was always willing to help others in any way possible. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the medical staff at the VA along with all the nurses, aides, and caregivers at Elevated Estates Assisted Living for their kindness and support over the past year.
There will be a memorial service to honor Rick on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11:00a.m. at the Center on the Lake located at 2491 Canfield Rd in Akron, OH. The family would like to invite everyone to stay for a reception immediately following the memorial service until 2:00p.m. Food and drinks will be served.
