Lisa Irene Jaap's Obituary
Jaap, Lisa Irene (DeSafey), 49, was joyfully welcomed into the Church Triumphant on Thursday, November 7, 2013 and now resides with Jesus Christ, her beloved Lord and Savior. Our cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and great aunt will be missed every day by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Charles Jaap, V; her two sons, Charles "Chase" Jaap, VI and Thomas Jaap; her mother, Irene DeSafey; two sisters, Dr. Cheryl Blume and Dr. Karen (David) Liller; three nieces, Michelle Blume (Derik Gutowski), Lindsay Blume, and Rebecca Liller; her nephew, Matthew Liller; her grand niece, Annabelle Gutowski; and her grand nephew, Daniel Gutowski. She is also survived by her aunts, LaVera (Martin) Koster and Margaret Diederich; uncle, Frank (Penelope) DeSafey; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas DeSafey in 2007.
Lisa was born on July 10, 1964 in Washington, Pennsylvania. She relocated with her parents to Longwood, Florida in 1978. She graduated from Lake Brantley High School (National Honor Society) and the University of South Florida (magna cum laude) earning a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Accounting. She held several business and accounting positions in banking, private industries and the private school systems. Lisa was baptized and confirmed at United Presbyterian Church in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Grace Family Church in Tampa, Florida and was active in multiple service programs and the Women's Cancer Survivor Group, Footprints. Lisa alwo developed and published a blog entitled the "Lisa Jaap Healing Ministries". Her blog encouraged others as she explored faith, healing, scriptures and reflections. Lisa's greatest joys were her sons, her family and her service to Jesus Christ, our Lord.
A memorial celebration to honor the life and witness of Lisa will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 7:00 pm at Village Presbyterian Church, 13315 South Village Drive, Tampa, Florida 33618. A reception will follow at the Carrollwood Country Club (formerly Emerald Greens), 13903 Clubhouse Drive, Tampa, Florida 33618. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that contributions be made to the Village Presbyterian Church (identifying disbursement to the Lisa Jaap Memorial Fund). These gifts will be equally divided between the Village Presbyterian Church Outreach Missions Ministries and the Women's Cancer Survivor Group, Footprints at Grace Family Church.
