Leonid Shusterman's Obituary
Leonid Shusterman, a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, died on July 5, 2024, at the age of 93. Leonid was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Tsilya Shusterman. Leonid was survived by his children, daughter Diana Sheldon and her husband Boris Sholom, his son Gary Shusterman and his wife Noel Shusterman; his granddaughters, Inessa Montes and her husband Orlando Montes, Michele Sheldon, and Gabriella Shusterman; grandson Evan Shusterman; and his great-grandchildren Logan Montes and Bianca Montes. He was also survived by his sister Fira Zilberbrant and her children Marina and Svetlana, and preceded in death by his brother Vladilen Shusterman and his surviving wife Nina and their children Alex and Zak.
Leonid was born in Narovlya, Belarus on March 31, 1931, to Yakov and Sonya Shusterman. On October 22, 1956, he married Tsilya. On October 2, 1957, and March 27, 1963, respectively, he welcomed his daughter and his son. Leonid was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Prior to immigrating to the United States in 1976, Leonid worked tirelessly for many years as a supermarket department manager to save enough money to enable his family to make the long and challenging journey from Kiev, Ukraine and safely settle in Brooklyn, New York. Leonid was an avid do-it-yourselfer, which enabled him to build a successful business producing and selling women’s leather handbags. He loved to read, travel around the world, dance, and to be surrounded by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him and whose hearts he so deeply touched throughout his fruitful life.
A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, July 15, 2024, at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, FL 34655.
