Leona Augusta Knettle's Obituary
Leona “Lee” Augusta Jack-Knettle, 92, of New Port Richey, formerly of Turnersville, NJ, died at Madison Pointe Rehab Center, on Sunday, January 7, 2018.
Born on June 14, 1925 in Camden, NJ, to William and Christina Osherhoski, she attended Camden schools until her parents passed away. She was then employed at R.M. Hollingshead, a leather, oil, and soap factory in Camden. She married Robert Jack right after WWII, had three children then divorced and married Wesley Knettle Sr. gaining three stepchildren and two more birth children. She was later employed as an assembler for baseboard radiation at Suntemp Industries in Blenheim, NJ. She resided in South Camden until 1960. Then moved to Turnersville NJ.
After her husband was medically retired, she relocated to New Port Richey and later to Hernando Beach, Florida from about 1975-2000. She attended St. Stephen’s and All Saint’s Episcopal Churches and continued to be a home- maker and devoted wife and mother. After relocating back to Turnersville, NJ, she loved to play cards and slot machines at the Jersey Shore with friends, as well as attend baseball games for Philadelphia Phillies and attained autographs and pictures of coaches and professional ball players.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Jack and Wesley Knettle Sr., her daughter Kathleen Jack-Jamerson, son Glenn Jack, step-son William Knettle and her parents and siblings.
Survivors include her daughters: Renee’ (John) Dermott of FL, and Catherine (Randy) Cheek of Ohio. Her sons: Raymond (Alice) Jack of MA, Wesley Knettle Jr. (Susan) of WI, and Douglas Jack of FL. She also has a sister-in-law, Pearl Dugan of Pennsauken, NJ.
She has 14 grandchildren including the 3 that she lived with, Nikki, Matthew, and Sydney Dermott of FL, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Family and friends are welcome to the viewing at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, January 18 at 10:30 am, followed by a service at 11:30.
Burial will be held in private at Bushnell National Cemetery.
