Leo James Simmons Jr.
A resident of Tampa, FL and a native of Bogalusa, LA died Tuesday January 31st 2023
He was 63 years old and a Foreman II at Amtrak Auto Train with 14 years of service. He was an Electrician with DOTD for the State of Louisiana where he retired with 20 years service.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years Melanie Bergeron Simmons and their daughter Maitlyn Jae Simmons, 2 sons Trez Simmons (Claire Simmons) and Colby Simmons (Katherine Simmons) 3 granddaughters London Simmons, Stella Simmons and Vivian Simmons. He is preceded in death by his parents Leo (Big Leo) Simmons Sr. And Janice Duncan Simmons.
A lover of life he enjoyed gathering with family and friends. He was a hard worker able to fix anything short of the crack of dawn. He was a man who showed up to help you, no questions asked and you knew you could count on him to show up. His family meant everything to him and his kids were his world, S to the 3. He also loved Golf, fishing, hunting, his music, Football and yes Bourbon and Cigars. Leo was larger than life and a husband and father who will be greatly missed.
