Laurel Ann Howell's Obituary
After a protracted battle with cancer, Laurel Ann Howell died on July 19, 2023 in Lutz,FL at the age of 66. She leaves behind her husband, Terry W Howell; her sons, Kenneth (Shannon) and Keith (Angie) Brening; and her daughter, Krystal (Lee) Kramer.
Laurel was born on August 3, 1956 in Buffalo, NY, to father Bruce Nelson and mother Janice Nelson, who predeceased her. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend and Grammy.
Laurel was passionate about her beloved horse Miss Bailey, who predeceased her. With a love of romance novels and future travel plans camping around the country and to visit Italy. When diagnosed with cancer in 2022, she remained dedicated in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.
Laurel is survived by her husband and children, as well as her sisters, Linda (Tom) Albanez and Lois (Mike) Benitez; her grandchildren, Alyssa, Isaac (Hannah), and Nathan Brening; Courtney (Adam) and Brooke Brening; Carter and Dylan Reed and Calloway “Cali” Kramer; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard “Dick” Nelson.
Laurel requested to be cremated. Her ashes will be interred at the Rose Garden in Trinity Memorial Gardens. A future celebration of life is being planned. The family would especially like to thank Jocelyn Segal, NP-WellMed Healthcare; the staff of Florida Cancer Specialists County Line; St Joseph’s Hospital-North (Baycare); AdventHealth-Wesley Chapel; and Gulfside Healthcare Services for their constant, attentive treatment and loving care; and the Trinity Memorial Funeral Home, for making the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please volunteer/ donate to a local Equine Rescue or Hospice Care Provider.
