In Loving Memory of Kevin Brooks (1979-2023)
Kevin Brooks, born on May 10, 1979 in Long Beach, California, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023. He was the cherished son of Karen and David Brooks, loving brother to Stephanie Isaacson (Ike) and Courtney Vevea (Nate), and a doting uncle to Nathan, Charles, Taylor, William, and Rylie. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Francis Taylor, his paternal grandparents, Williams and Patricia Brooks, and his uncle, Serge Taylor.
Kevin's early years were marked by his dedication, as seen through his achievements as an Eagle Scout and his graduation from Land O’ Lakes High School. He served a 2-year mission to San Fernando, California, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Kevin's academic pursuits led him to The Cooper Union before attaining a bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of South Florida.
Professionally, Kevin contributed to the success of Southern Tire Mart. But it was outside of work where his spirit truly flourished. He had an affinity for animals, and friends and family often joked that animals sensed his kind spirit, because he'd befriend every creature he encountered. His innate artistic ability spanned various mediums, from sketching to sculpting, often showcasing his talent through the art of 3D printing, his latest hobby.
Kevin cultivated a special bond with his nieces and nephews. He was always gifting them with 3D printed toys, thinking of how he could help with their Halloween costumes, giving them art lessons, and playing video games with them.
Kevin’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of numerous friends and family who remember him not just for his many achievements, but for the creativity, love, and laughter he brought into their lives.
We cherish the memories we had with him and celebrate a life lived with passion and purpose. Kevin will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him, but his spirit will forever illuminate the lives of those he’s touched.
