Keith M. Johnson's Obituary
Keith Milo Johnson lived 88 humble years. He was a son, brother, husband, father, pops, grandfather, great-grandfather, Mason, member of the United States Air Force, government employee, and a man of faith. Born in Nebraska to Alma and Wesley, Keith was joined a year later by his sister, Elaine. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Verna Rae, after joining the USAF. Their love and devotion throughout their 67 year union was a model to their three children; Susan, Kim, and Scott. Together, they travelled around the country and world as Air Force families do. After serving twenty years, Keith proudly retired from the USAF and set down roots in Tampa, FL. He started another twenty-year career with the Veteran’s Administration as an electrician. When his children got married, Keith welcomed Danny, Marilyn, and Bill into his heart. Keith entered full retirement two years after Verna retired from teaching. A trip to Australia and New Zealand was a highlight of the 26 years they shared in retirement.
Many important lessons and fond memories were shared between Keith and his four grandchildren; Erin, Evan, Leah, and Kristine. He had a big heart and never spoke a negative word of anyone. Keith was not afraid to show a goofy side once in a while. When the grandkids were young, he’d take a hand and skip around and sing, “Hip-pity hop to the Barbershop”. Hours were spent playing Old Maid and reading “Otto: Fish Out of Water”. His love was unconditional.
Keith was most happy when he was surrounded by his family, and he would do anything for them. His smile was so bright when they would visit. Whether it was a holiday or no reason at all, he loved any occasion to get his three kids and their families together for a meal. He always had room for seconds and never said no to dessert. Keith was a kind and honest man; the greatest way to honor his memory is to live a life that resembles his.
