She graduated from Loyola College magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in communications and from Northwestern University with a honors MBA in marketing and finance. Julie was a huge advocate and patron of the arts, with opera training, she dedicated a good portion of her career to fundraising and programs for arts enrichment.
Julie then transported these skills to help build the (ISC)2 foundation as the first director, a foundation that provides research, scholarships and programs to keep children and seniors safe and secure online. She is most known in the information security community for reminding you “It’s for the children..” and for speaking engagements on women in security and overcoming the gender gap.
Julie was an active member with Florida Boxer rescue, where she fostered and adopted many boxers over the years. This was one of her main passions in life. As Julie’s cancer progressed to stage 4 she became active with online support groups for triple negative breast cancer and metastatic cancer. Lending her guidance, advice, wisdom and support she was an inspiration to many who were facing the same diseases and challenges.
