Dr. Juan Masangkay Viray DDS, ( 87 ), of New Port Richey Florida, peacefully passed away on June 17th, 2023. Dr. Viray, fondly known as Johnny, was born in the Philippines and as a young man joined the Filipino Army where he developed his talent, and lifelong profession, as a dentist. In 1963 he married his loving wife Erlinda and they have been by each others side ever since.
Johnny was a strong-willed man determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. So, in 1970 he took a big gamble and moved his family to the United States, specifically Jersey City, NJ. Since his licensure to practice dentistry in the Philippines was not valid in the US, he worked tirelessly to gain his licensure while still providing for this family’s needs. Once he gained his license to practice dentistry he opened up a practice in the Bronx where he practiced until 1989. Then in 1989, he retired, and he moved with his wife, to New Port Richey Fl.
Johnny was one of the last of the Old Guard who believed in GOD, Family, and Country. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Erlinda as well as his children Ramon, Rowen, Ralph, Laura Viray (Ramon's wife), and Oanh Viray (Ralph's Wife); 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Catholic Prayer:
Eternal rest, grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
