Joyce Gloria Lightbourne was born November 20, 1929. She passed peacefully on August 16, 2023 at 93 years 9 months of age.
Joyce was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was born in the parish of St. Thomas in the city of Yallahs, Jamaica W.I. After graduating from high school she furthered her education by taking courses in stenography, bookkeeping and accounting at a technical college in Kingston, Jamaica. She later joined the Royal British Brigade where she fined tuned her accounting skills. Soon after, she gave birth to her daughter, Jacqueline, followed ten years later by the birth of her son Anthony “ Tony”.
In 1968 she migrated to the United States, continuing to hone her accounting skills with a number of firms doing both bookkeeping and payroll. Her professional career eventually landed her a position with J.P. Morgan, her favorite company, where she worked for more than 10 years until she retired.
Between 2011 and 2017, Joyce moved to Tampa, Florida for two years and then Washington D.C. for fours years, before returning back to Tampa; where she spent her last five years.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Lewis (Milton),son Anthony Brown; grandchildren: DeSean Lewis
(Kemba), Andre Lewis (Constance), Nigel Lewis (Jessica), Anthony Brown II, Ashley Brown; great grandchildren: Julien, Jordin, Jayden, Miles, Mariah, Micah; brothers: Henry and Dwight Lightbourne (Robin) and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends who reside in the United States, Jamaica, and England.
Funeral Services will be held for her at Trinity Memorial Gardens followed by a Repast.
