Joyce Bresee's Obituary
Joyce Lea (Brush) Bresee, 82, died on October 15, 2018 at her apartment home with Concordia Village in Tampa, Florida. Joyce was under Life Path Hospice care the last months of her life. Ms. Bresee was born on June 20, 1936 in Morristown, New Jersey to Howard and Dorothy Brush, who predeceased her. Surviving are her sister, Edythe Thornton (Greenville, Maine), a nephew, Douglas Thornton (Branchville, New Jersey), several cousins and many friends.
Joyce was a Business High School Teacher and Department Head (Business/Home Economics/Shop) at Newtown Square High School in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, where she retired from. In addition, Joyce served as a coach to the cheerleaders, the women's softball team, and the women's basketball team at the High School.
Ms. Bresee was very active in the Business & Professional Women's Organization. She served as the local President of the West Chester BPW, the District Director of District 10 in Pennsylvania, as the State President of Business & Professional Women's Organization of Pennsylvania, and on the National Board of Directors of BPW.
While New Jersey and Pennsylvania were her main areas of residence, Joyce spent portions of every summer in the Moosehead Lake Area of Maine since she was two years old. She built a cabin on the Lake, was active at the People's United Methodist Church, and enjoyed time with her extended family, who also had cabins in the Greenville, Maine area.
