Joseph Silvestro's Obituary
Joseph A. Silvestro of New Port Richey, Florida, formerly of Mamaroneck, NY
passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. He was 68 years old.
He was born on June 12, 1949 in New Rochelle, NY to Antoinette Silvestro and
the late Joseph G. Silvestro.
Joe graduated from Rye Neck High School in 1967 and attended Ashland College.
He earned his degree from Stanford University. He had a long career in the tobacco industry working at U.S. Tobacco Co. in Greenwich CT and most recently as Vice President at Thompson
Cigar.
Joe was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. He loved God, his country and his family. He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, traveling, and every adventure with his dear friend, Tom. What gave him the most pleasure in life was spending time with his family. He relished spending time with his 6 grandchildren. When Pop-Pop was around there was always certain to be junk food, laughter and fun.
Joe also loved getting together with his parents, brothers and sisters. These gatherings
often turned into huge family reunions with cousins, aunts and uncles because Joe
couldn't help but include everyone in his extended family. His passing leaves a crater in our family and life without him seems impossible but we treasure so many memories that we hold close to our hearts.
Joe was an animal lover and had strong connections with his dogs, especially the late Corona and Lucy.
Joe was a kind and compassionate human being, always quick to lend a helping hand. For this reason he had many friends. His generosity knew no bounds. If you mentioned that you liked something, he was known to overnight a case of whatever that might be. Joe also loved a good laugh and delighted in telling stories from his childhood and adolescence which often involved some sort of high jinks. He will be remembered by his sense of humor, strong work ethic, generosity and love of Walter's hot dogs, Sal's pizza and Westchester Italian bakery wedges. We will greatly miss his kind and loving nature, quiet strength and his everlasting desire to make us laugh.
He is survived by his adored wife, Shari, son Brian Silvestro (Lori), daughter, Heather
Butler (Joe), grandchildren, Nicholas, Isabella, Joey, Chris, Brantley and Graysen. Also surviving is his cherished mother, Antoinette Silvestro, step-mother, Rose Silvestro
and siblings, Anne Lavery, Charles Silvestro (Hilde), Donna Magnotta (Charlie), Michael Silvestro (Lisa), and Lisa Chatigny (Neal).
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Service will be held Wednesday February 14, 2018 at Trinity Memorial Gardens 727-376-7824 at 12pm. Burial to follow service.
