Joseph Manuel Martinez Jr “JOE”
Joseph Manuel Martinez Jr, 84, passed peacefully November 11, 2016. Joe was born in Tampa on September 29, 1932. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 50 years, Elsie “Tonya”, his son Russell, two brothers John (Cathy) and Jim (Sylvia), and many loving nieces and nephews. In 1952, Joe joined Marine Bank and Trust Co. in Tampa, and worked at the bank for the next 23 years, rising to the position of Vice-President. In 1975, Joe, Tonya and her parents (Milham) launched the Square-Rigger Inn of Fairhope, Alabama, which became an award winning restaurant, featured nationally in Southern Living Magazine. In 1984, he returned to Tampa to resume his banking career, which spanned more than 50 years. Joe was active in many Tampa civic organizations.
Joe attended the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan in Clearwater. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be conducted by Father Bill at Trinity Memorial Gardens on Highway 54 in Trinity, Florida on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM
