Melendez Jr, Jose Luis, of Land O Lakes, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2022 at Advent Health Tampa. Jose was born on May 5, 1953 in New York City. He was the son of the late, Jose and Juanita Melendez.
Jose attended Monroe High school and Lehman College in the Bronx, New York. He moved to Connecticut after the birth of his son and then later retired to Florida. Jose retired after 25 years of service in the Norwalk Police Department in Connecticut, a job that he very much enjoyed as he loved being of service to the people.
Jose enjoying camping with family, horseback riding, amusement parks, board games, and cheering on the Mets. He was very loved by his brothers and sister-in-laws, whom he helped raise. Large family gatherings and holidays in his home were much cherished.
Jose is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Elisabeth Melendez; children, Joshua Melendez, Jose Melendez III, Eloisa Melendez and Joe David Melendez.
A visitation is to be held for Jose on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Trinity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, located at 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, Florida 34655. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Trinity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment is to follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
