John Michael Mclaughlin's Obituary
John Michael McLaughlin, 76, of Trinity, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. Born on May 30, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, John lived a life marked by dedicated service, unwavering devotion to his family, and a generous spirit that touched countless lives.
John proudly served his country in the United States Naval Reserves from 1969 to 1974. He then embarked on a distinguished 20-year career with the New York City Department of Correction, retiring in 1990 as a Captain. His commitment to duty and leadership earned him the respect of colleagues and reflected his deep sense of responsibility.
In September 1977, John married the love of his life, Marilynn, and together they built a foundation of love and partnership. Their son, Sean, was born in 1981, and John proved to be an exceptional father—guiding Sean through Boy Scouts, coaching him in Little League Baseball, and cheering enthusiastically at every football, soccer, and swimming event. He passed on his passion for the outdoors by teaching Sean the joys of hunting, fishing, and boating, creating cherished memories that will endure for generations.
An avid golfer, John found relaxation and camaraderie on the course, where his competitive yet friendly nature shone through.
Above all, John will be remembered for his selfless heart and ever-ready helping hand. Whether lending support to family, friends, community, or country, he embodied quiet strength, kindness, and integrity.
John is survived by his loving wife, Marilynn; his son, Sean; and a host of extended family and friends who mourn his passing but celebrate the profound impact he made on their lives.
On Saturday, January 31st, a memorial service will be held from 12pm-12:30pm with a celebration of life immediately following from 12:30-3pm at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, FL 34655.
He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and service lives on in those who knew him.
