John Gensure's Obituary
GENSURE, John George
78, of Trinity, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. John was born on December 2, 1938, in the coal mining town of New Boston, PA, to
John and Mary Gensure. He received his B.S. from Lehigh University in Engineering on June, 1960. Upon graduation he served in the Berlin Brigade. He had a long career as a metallurgical engineer, specializing
in steam turbines. He wrote many articles on nondestructive
evaluation and co-authored the International Metallic Materials Cross-Reference. He continued to be productive in retirement, serving as editor-in-chief for The Voice, a newspaper for his local community of Heritage
Springs. His generosity throughout his life is best typified by a most remarkable act of kindness; he donated a lobe of his lung to his co-worker’s daughter, who was suffering from cystic fibrosis. He is survived by his two sons, Lieutenant Commander John R. Gensure, U.S.N. (Retired)
and Robert Gensure, M.D./Ph.D.; and by his wife, Marilyn Gensure. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, on Wednesday, October 25 at 11 am, followed by a reception in the Heritage Springs Country Club, 11345 Robert Trent Jones Parkway, Trinity, at 12:30 pm.
