John Crowther's Obituary
John Crowther, age 51, passed away on December 17, 2024, after a sudden and unexpected complication in his battle with cancer. John was born on September 23, 1973, in Savannah, GA, and attended Coker College in Hartsville, SC where he was known as the “Smoker from Coker” and made history as the school’s first-ever baseball draft pick. He later moved to the Tampa Bay Area in 1994 during his time with the Toronto Blue Jays where he began a lifelong journey enriched by his love for baseball, family, and friends.
John is survived by his two sons, Ashton and Kaiden Crowther; his mother, Deborah Kegl; his father, Gary Crowther; his brother, Robert Crowther, and his family; his devoted and loving fiancée, Tara Denhoff, and her three daughters; as well as numerous uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
John’s passion for life, his dedication to his loved ones, and his enduring legacy in baseball will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. May he continue to watch over us all. Rest in peace, John. You are deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
John’s Celebration of life will be held on December 29th @ Five Star Baseball Academy in Trinity Florida from 2-5 p.m.
