Joan Masia, (known as Memaw, grams) age 89, passed away peacefully in her home after a long and courageous battle with multiple chronic illnesses. Born in New York, Joan lived a life marked by resilience, love, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
Joan was the devoted wife of Frank Masia, with whom she shared 31 years of marriage. Joan raised three children- Lance, Alan, and Debra-with remarkable strength and dedication. When she met Frank, he embraced her family and offered unwavering support and love to Joan and her children. Together, Joan and Frank created a home filled with warmth and laughter for their grandchildren. Joan was a true fighter, having faced illness numerous times throughout her life. Despite the many health challenges, she recovered time and time again, showing her indomitable spirit and incredible strength. Her perseverance was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her grandchildren, Morgan and Logan, were the light of her life, and she played a significant role in helping to raise them. Even with her grandchild Melanie who lives away, Joan’s cherished every moment she received. Joan’s bond with her grandchildren was deep and special, and she shared a lot of joy being able to spend as much time with them as she did. In addition to her own children and grandchildren, Joan welcomed Frank’s children and grandchildren into her heart with open arms. She valued the extended family they created together and loved them as her own which is a testament to the amazing woman she was. Joan was a woman of simple pleasures. She had a particular fondness for chicken parmesan, hot dogs, and loved spending time at the beach and sponge docks, where she found joy in the moments shared with her family. Known for her kind heart, Joan was deeply appreciative for everyone who cared and supported her throughout her life. Her gratitude and warmth left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Joan Masia’s life was a testament to strength, love, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by her husband Frank, her children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of kindness, love, and strength will continue to inspire those who she left behind.
