Jo Ann Davis' Obituary
Jo Ann Jefferson Brown Davis, beloved wife, mother, and accomplished professional, passed away on July 8, 2023. She was born on September 9, 1941, in Augusta, Georgia, and at the age of four, her family relocated to New York City, where she embarked on a remarkable journey that touched the lives of many.
Jo's career began as an "Office Girl" at Household International, Inc (HI) while attending Hunter College in New York. She took pride in her role, and it laid the foundation for her illustrious 36-year-long tenure with HI. Through determination and hard work, Jo climbed the corporate ladder, holding various positions as she excelled within the company. She pursued higher education, earning a BA and later a law degree from the University of Houston in Texas. Her dedication led her to become an Assistant Vice President in Chicago and, eventually, the General Counsel for the Insurance Group of North America, a division of HSBC.
In addition to her professional achievements, Jo's life was enriched by the love she found in Chicago. It was there that she met the love of her life, Bruce Davis, with whom she shared 30 years of cherished marriage. Together, they created a beautiful family and embarked on numerous travels, creating lasting memories that will forever be treasured.
After retiring from HSBC, Jo found fulfillment in sharing her knowledge and experiences with others. She dedicated her time to teaching graduate-level students at North Central University, teaching Zumba and pursuing her passion for art. Her artistic journey began with charcoal drawings in Texas, continued with watercolors in Chicago, and culminated in acrylic paintings during her time in Florida.
Jo Ann Jefferson Brown Davis is survived by her loving husband Bruce, their adored daughter Robbin, and a multitude of lifelong friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, determination, and joyous memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.
