Jeanette Tucker's Obituary
Jeanette Carolyn Tucker, 91, of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024, with her family by her side. Jeanette was born to Wilburn and Thelma Payne on January 6, 1933, in Ashburn, Georgia. She met her the love of her life, her husband George, at the age of 17, and the couple eloped, despite their family’s concerns that they were marrying too young. George and Jeanette showed the world that they had made the right decision by celebrating almost 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2009.
Jeanette took great pride in the accomplishments of her 25-year career as a Certified Engineer’s Assistant with Honeywell. She was a longtime member of the Idlewild Baptist Church. Most of all, she loved being with her family. Whether attending baseball games, fishing, going to the beach, shopping, or taking care of them when they were sick, Jeanette was always present and made a point to make her children feel special and loved. Her children will forever feel grateful for the love she gave them as a mother, and for the true love story she and George shared together. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Jeanette is survived by her two daughters, Carol (Jimmy) Soler and Setrina (Eddie) Riverol, and her daughter-in-law Anne Tucker; her grandchildren Lucresia (David) and Joseph; her great-grandchildren Jordan, Jayde, Ryan, Rylee, and Joseph George; her great-great-grandchildren Tucker and Ava Lyn, and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George Tucker, her son Gary Tucker, her parents Wilbur and Thelma Payne, and her brothers Wilburn and Wandall Payne.
The family would like to express special gratitude to their nurses, Mary and Ana, who provided loving care to Jeanette during her final days.
