Jaya Kanwal's Obituary
Prof Jaya Kanwal, our beloved mom was born in Nagpur, India on July 30, 1937. She grew up in Gwalior and did her masters in Botany. She taught and helped innumerable students to achieve their goals. She got married to Late Prof Satya Pal Kanwal in 1960 and moved to Amritsar, Punjab.
She lived a happy family life and brought up her daughter and son Anjum and Anurag with great love and affection. She inspired them with her grit, hard work, compassion, intelligence, and an undying attitude to never give up and pursue their dreams. She lived her life fully despite her handicaps with her zestful, merry, and bigger than life spirit and persona. She was always caring and worrying for us making small game of her own hardships. She surprised everyone with her zeal to live life fully and loving everybody who came in touch with her. She was an inspiring writer, a philosopher, and artist making drawings, painting and crocheting all the time. She will forever live in our thoughts and dreams and continue to inspire us to stay humble, loving, compassionate, and empowered.
She is survived by her daughter Anjum Kumbkarni and son in law Yuvraj Kumbkarni with her grandchildren Nayha and Rohan. Her son Anurag Goswami, daughter in law Suruchi Goswami with grandchildren Asavari, Pearl and Afshan. Her melodious voice and positive vibes will echo in all of our hearts forever.
