James Brown I's Obituary
James J. Brown I, or Jim as many of us knew him, age 79, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024. Jim was born October 14,1944 in Newport, Rhode Island, to Joseph Brown and Helen Maguire. James attended Bogota High School before joining the Air Force.
Jim was a strong, fiercely independent man, with a heart of gold. He lived his life providing for those he loved and will be dearly missed by every soul fortunate enough to know him. Jim enjoyed classic cars, Doo-wop music, traveling, and sharing tasty food and good times with good people. Jim was a diligent, devoted man, whose work ethic and commitment to his family and duties were unrivaled.
Jim is a proud Veteran of the US Air Force and upon retiring, worked at the Post Office until also retiring from there, as his post-military career. He spent his life on his feet and working with his hands, never putting off to tomorrow, what needed done, today. His life of physically demanding and challenging work is captured well in Proverbs 14:23 (NIV), “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty,” for he was a man of action, not procrastination or talk.
Jim is survived by his wife, Myong, or “Sue” to many of us here; his three children, daughter Leslie Marie and sons, James J. II, and Sean Michael; and his siblings, Geraldine Lee and Richard Brown. Jim’s loving wife Sue provided him a love, comfort, and companionship he looked for throughout his life and brought him a special relationship with her sons, Christian and Anthony, whom he loved like his own. This beautifully blended family combined to enrich his life and legacy with thirteen grandchildren.
To all of those he loved and whose lives were touched by him. Please join us celebrating his life Thursday September 26, 2024, at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Dr. Trinity, FL 34655. The visitation will be from 10am to 12pm, with the service beginning at 12pm.
