As a Child and even as an Adult , I always loved Uncle Don's accent , and listening to His war stories . Him and my Dad , sitting around talking and laughing . Some really great memories. I am so very sorry Aunt Marie.
You will always be in my heart an memory . sending you a few roses for all the good times an travels we have had to gather love you always . Marie
It's easy to say Don loved both God and Country. He was a decorated war veteran, doing tours in both Korea and Vietnam, earning a purple heart, and retiring as a SFC after 26 years in the Army.
Pretty impressive stuff, but more importantly, he was a man who loved his family deeply. He loved to fish, taking us out to look for scallops, and always trying to get someone to go out on the boat with him. He would quote scripture when he was trying to teach us something about life; and even though we gave him a hard time about it, but it was his way of showing his love for us. He was a studied man who kept up on current events and would read constantly to improve his knowledge of the world at large. He gave money to "Feed the Children" and made sure his family was always taken care of. He was a very special man to us; we knew we were loved; and it will be hard to go on without him to guide us.
But as Don would say - "To everything there is a season, a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to weep, and a time to mourn, and a time to dance".

I am so very sorry about Uncle Don , Thank you Linda for helping Aunt Marie , with all of the things that needs to be done , she is so blessed to have you right there. I know Uncle Don was like your own Daddy. He always talked very highly of you and your family.
I think that all of us here in Rock Hill , love the memory of Uncle Don driving all the way here from Fla. He made his mind up , and did it , We all had a big laugh , after we came out of shock. I Loved his laugh.
What a great picture of him. I Love you Aunt Marie , I really really wish I could be there.
You will always be in my heart and memory so
