Jack Alves' Obituary
Jack Alves, 70 years of age of New Port Richey, FL entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born on November 17, 1952, in Calvao, Portugal to the late Antonio and Maria (Pereira) Alves. He moved to the U.S. as a young boy and made a life for himself in Bridgeport, Connecticut. During his time in Connecticut, he built his career and worked as a Master Mechanic for Toyota. He took great pride in his work, and he even had a custom made large red Snap-On toolbox filled with only Snap-On tools. In his personal time, he loved to garden, a passion that grew from helping on his family farm in Portugal. He brought that knowledge to the U.S. and was known for having the best vegetable garden around, generously sharing the rewards of his labor with everyone he knew. His hobbies included fishing on his boat, fixing his family and friends’ cars, playing harmonica and the guitar, listening to rock and roll in the garage while woodworking with his grandchildren, modifying and riding one of his many one-of-a-kind bikes.
In his later years, Jack relocated to New Port Richey, Florida where he lived the remainder of his life spending time with his loving family. He never let us part ways without him saying, “I love you.” His true legacy was being a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, and grandpa. He loved his family with his whole heart.
He was as authentic as they come. He was afraid of nothing; he was a strong man by nature but had a very kind and giving heart. His witty sense of humor would make you burst into laughter! He was a legendary storyteller of the past and present and his stories will live in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Veronica (Ronnie) Alves, devoted daughter Nancy Tang, dedicated son in law Dan Tang, cherished grandsons Brandon and Justin Tang. His brothers: Manual Rodrigues, Jose Alves, His sisters: Isaura Mendes, Emilia Gomes, Ana Vecencio, Goddaughter: Colleen Justo, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2023, 9:30 am at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Dr, Trinity, FL 34655. Flower arrangements can be sent to Trinity Memorial Gardens.
