Holly Howroyd's Obituary
“We know that we have passed out of death into life” -John 3:14-
Holly Kristine Howroyd of Lutz, Florida, passed away peacefully with grace and courage of cancer, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on January 15, 2019. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was 55 years old.
Holly was born on December 16, 1963, in Santa Monica, California but was raised primarily in Westport, Connecticut. She graduated from Staples High School in 1982 and University of Connecticut in 1986. Holly was an accomplished skier and equestrian competitor. She set a record for Arabian quarter mile racing and won championship jumping competitions at the Fairfield County Hunt Club. At 21 she interned at The Wall Street Journal and was offered a position in the Dow Jones International Advertising Division upon graduation of UConn.
Her independent, intelligent, entrepreneurial, and adventurous spirit led her to her true calling of helping others, passionately committed to teaching and mentoring health care professionals and individuals a path to good health and prosperity. She retired from Dow Jones at age 36 and became a self-employed, well-known, successful business woman focusing on nutrition and lifestyle changes to improve health outcomes. She touched many lives positively as a dedicated Transitions Lifestyle Management Certified Trainer. Holly and her husband, Rick Howroyd, were coordinators of Team Tampa Bay for over five years, inspiring and motivating other entrepreneurs. Holly achieved great success as Executive National Supervising Coordinator and together, Rick and Holly became members of the prestigious Million Dollar Club of Market America.
Holly was known for her infectious laugh and had a great sense of humor. Her hugs were famous and welcomed by all. She loved to travel, celebrate life with fun and delicious family and friend dinners, and ski all over the world. She was a sensitive soul that loved animals, especially her beloved pet cat, Pretty Girl. Holly was respected for her incredible integrity, truthfulness, practical and down to earth approach to life. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and served. She was beautiful inside and out but was always humble and appreciative. She was committed to her faith in the Lord and a member of Grace Family Church.
She is survived by her loving husband Rick Howroyd and step son Michael Howroyd; predeceased by step son Ricky Howroyd; survived by her mother Patricia Conroy and step father Jeffrey Hare of Fairfield, Connecticut; her father Thomas McElreath and step mother Violetta McElreath of Tampa, Florida; predeceased by step father Robert Conroy; survived by her sister Kelly Mcelreath; her brother Matthew McElreath and sister in law Kim McElreath; her brother Ian McElreath and sister in law Toni Lynn McElreath; her nieces Starling Ferguson and great niece Layla Ferguson; her niece Willow Macol and nephews Gavin McElreath and Jack Lebish; her Aunt Mary Johnston and Aunt Lollie Hoffman; and many loving cousins.
Holly’s Celebration of Life Service is Thursday, January 24, 10am, at Grace Family Church, 5101 Van Dyke Road, Lutz, Florida.
