Thank you for some of my most happiest childhood memories. I remember being excited when me and Grandma would ride the Greyhound to Mobile, then Enterprise, and then Montgomery to see you all. I went to my very first yard sale with you in Montgomery - which might have contributed to my love of shopping. ❤️
Although I’m sad you had to leave us, I’m happy you and Uncle James are together again. Sleep well.

It’s heartwarming to reflect on the many fond memories of Mama J, as I have had the pleasure of knowing her over the past ~30 years through my friendship with Kahlilah. She was a quiet force, but I knew not to be fooled by the quiet as she was bold, strong, and never wavering in her support for her children. I can vividly recall her facial expressions as we as high schoolers attempted to concoct stories of our plans or whereabouts for the evening, always kindly letting us finish our “story” before letting out a skeptical “mmmm hmmm.” She knew she had raised an independent and responsible daughter and knew she would be ok. To this day, that holds true. Mrs.Johnson raised 3 amazing children and I know she is so proud. I am blessed to have known her and will miss her dearly. Memory: High School, 1964 freshman year…The Beatles(the year that they became international). I don’t know if any family members ever heard this, but Gwen was a big fan of The Beatles back in the day! She knew every song that they sang, and would sing and dance to their music.
December 1964, Gwen’s Christmas wishlist became a reality ~ She asked for a pink jumper dress, white blouse, black window pane pantyhose, and white GoGo boots. All of those items were very popular and came out that year. Gwen GoGo dance to The Beatles music in her GoGo boots! That was one of her proudest moments. There are so many more memories that I could share, but one is enough for now.
