Gloria Murphy's Obituary
Mrs. Gloria C. Murphy, age 94, Spring Hill, FL, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2016. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and the daughter of the late John and Magdalena Pfeiffer Scherder. She relocated to the Tampa Bay area in 1987 from Hockessin, Delaware, and was a Catholic, attending St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Mrs. Murphy’s passions were her family, friends, sewing, and travel. She worked for 40 years at Missouri Pacific Railroad, and later in life supported her husband James Murphy’s presidency with the Society of Former FBI Agents.
Mrs. Murphy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, James M. Murphy, and her former husband of 22 years, Lester Willmann.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by her cousin, Edward Pfeiffer, of Los Angeles, California, and her husband’s (James Murphy) children: Thomas G. Murphy and wife Ellen Gerrity of Bethesda, MD, and Anne Marie Collins of Tampa and 4 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 20, 2016.
The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Drive Trinity, FL 34655. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Tampa, Florida.
