Geraldine (Jeri) Henderlong, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and friend to many, died in her home December 25, 2023.
Jeri is survived by her daughter Denice Sides, son Mark, grandchildren Kim Haack, David Christy, Todd Lako, Holly Lako, Brad Lako, Michaela Piszczek, Mariah Piszczek, Elizabeth Maritz, and Emily Osterfeld. Jeri had 10 greatgrandchildren. Jeri was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Henderlong and her daughter Diane Christy.
Jeri was born in Detroit on April 20, 1933 to Paul and Geraldine (St Aubin) Esch. She graduated from Redford High in 1951. She married Calvin Henderlong, an Army Airborne veteran and career Montgomery Ward store manager, on September 8, 1951. She was a dedicated housewife and mother.
A resident of Timber Greens in New Port Richey, Florida for the past 28 years, she enjoyed golfing for as long as she was physically able being a charter member of the “Nifty-Niners.” One interesting feat was a hole-in-one achieved in 1968, her first-year golfing. Jeri enjoyed bowling, mahjong, Thursday night dinners with her friends, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. Jeri was Roman Catholic and follower of Jesus Christ, praying daily. Mostly, Jeri was a people-person. Her family and friends were her primary focus. She loved and was loved by many persons.
A viewing and burial will be held on January 3, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Gardens Funeral home. A memorial reception will be held at the Timber Greens clubhouse at 4:00 P.M. the same day.
