Dear Lynda and Geoff,
Sorry for your loss. The time in Packanack Lake playing tennis and softball I will always remember. Jerry was a great competitor and good friend.
Jerry and I played baseball for Notre Dame. He was a Senior my Sophomore year. Then, and ever since, he wielded the term "Soph" as a playfully derogatory term to make sure we never forgot his superior wisdom, experience, and athletic gifts. Every time we spoke on the phone it was time travel back to a younger and happier time. It is always sad to lose a friend, but more than that I am sitting here in tears, grieving Jerry's passing. God bless you, Lynda and Geoff.

In my early 20's I played a 1st or 2nd round match of the club championship against Jerry. Packanack Lake Tennis Club (1980?) We went three sets. Jerry prevailed. Sensing my heartbreak, Jerry consoled me with the fact that I had actually won more games than him. He was a class act.
I so looked forward to seeing Jerry while walking my Shelties - whether it was Chip & Dale, Indy or Marlie. He was there nearly every day - walking his Shelties on Cheval Blvd. near the driving range! Because of our dogs, we became instant friends.
We would exchange barbs about the Notre Dame - Purdue rivalry (which he always seemed to have the upper hand!), but his infectious smile and laugh made me happy.
I've missed seeing him on those walks...but I will not forget the fun times we had. Rest in peace, Jerry -
So sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. As you know, Gerry and I went to lunch every couple of months usually at Rusty Bellies in Tarpon Springs. We discussed Notre Dame Baseball and always had a good time sharing memories. Gerry will be deeply missed.
