Georgios Kolimbiris' Obituary
Georgios Kolimbiris, 88, of New Port Richey, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024. Georgios was born in Greece on September 9, 1936. On November 1, 1965, he married his wife, Maria. In March of 1967, they welcomed their first (and only) child, John, and in November of 1968, the family immigrated to Brick, New Jersey where they later became U.S. citizens. Georgios was a member at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, Toms River, NJ where he sang in the choir alongside his wife for many years. In 2002, Georgios and Maria moved to Port Richey, FL and became members at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, New Port Richey, FL. Georgios was a dedicated husband, loving father, and nurturing grandfather.
Above all, Georgios was a man of great faith. He always tried to learn more and to teach those around him about the Greek Orthodox faith and traditions. He also prioritized service to those less fortunate, helping in any way possible.
In 1997, their son John married his wife Diki, and they welcomed twins (Maria & George) in 2005 and another daughter (Faith) in 2006. Georgios’ greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him Pappou. He always made sure everyone felt his love. We will hold tight to the countless memories of our frequent family visits, and he will forever be loved and missed.
Georgios is pre-deceased by his wife Maria (Villiotis), his parents, two brothers and his sister. He is survived by his son John Kolimbiris (Diki), his grandchildren Maria, George and Faith, and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Visitation is on Wednesday, October 16th, at 11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 9426 Little Rd, New Port Richey, FL 34654. Burial at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Dr, Trinity, FL 34655. There will be a gathering for food and drinks with family and friends. Details will be provided at the end of the funeral.
