George Shattuck's Obituary
George Henry Shattuck, 80, of Tarpon Springs, Florida passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 18, 2023. He was born on January 17, 1943, in Orlando, Florida.
He was in the Air Force from 1962-1965. After an honorable discharge he went into finance and became Senior Vice President of Marketing for Foremost Insurance Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan and retired in 1998 from Foremost.
George met his wife Almaree (Jarrell) in 1965. They were married October 7, 1967. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage.
George loved his family and centered his world around them and was very involved with his children and grandchildren. He coached softball and soccer. It was always a fun crazy time when family was together.
His true love, next to his wife and family, was his motorcycle. He traveled around the country visiting 48 states and 3 providences of Canada on his motorcycle. He also taught motorcycle school for 10 years. He also loved golfing and boating. He was a member of Crescent Oaks Golf and Country Club.
George was preceded in death by his parents, David Shattuck and Rita (Hickey) Shattuck; three brothers Kenneth, Charles and David. He is survived by his loving wife Almaree (Jarrell) Shattuck; three children, Dorinda Tucker, Crystal Butts and husband Michael, Phillip Shattuck and wife Susan, all of Florida; seven grandchildren; Christina, Colby, Chantel, Jason, Chelsea, Madeline, and Dominic; six great grandchildren; Layla, Kylei, Dylan, Vanessa, Ryanne and Ivy; six nieces and nephews; Vicky, Scott, Kathy, April, Dee and Michael, and sister in-iaw Joyce Shattuck.
Those who knew George loved his passion for life. They laughed a lot and embraced his hard work. His love for his family and friends was admired. George was the life of the party. He touched a lot of lives in his 80 years. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to attend his memorial service on Saturday, September 2nd at 11:00am at Trinity Memorial Gardens,12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, Fl. A celebration of life will follow at Crescent Oaks Golf Country Club, 3300 Crescent Oaks Blvd, Tarpon Springs, Fl, 34688
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Moffitt Cancer Center, AccentCare Hospice Pinellas County and Metropolitan Ministries on his behalf.
