LOTT, George P.
89, Born in St. Louis Missouri, May 14, 1927. He died in Tampa, Florida on March 8, 2017. The Lott families have lived in St. Louis for many generations. George attended Normandy High School, Rankin Technical College and Washington University. He earned his pilot’s license and served his country in the United States Navy.
George’s keen interest in Aeronautics served him well throughout his career as a design engineer. His favorite quote was “If it’s flying I probably had something to do with it.” A few of his many projects were F-15 and F-16 jet fighters, Stealth Bomber, and the Gemini Space Capsule.
His avocation was photography, earning many awards for his photos at Salon presentations; as well as photos of family and friends and his many travels in the U.S. and abroad. Retiring to Florida, he enrolled in computer science classes and became a savvy computer programmer.
He was an active member in the Tampa Palms country club, The Krewe of Venice, the Garden club, the Wood crafters and an existing member of “S.M.A.R.T.S”, an early member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. George and wife Polly celebrated over 50 years of marriage.
Predeceased by his parents, and an only brother, Don. Survived by his wife Polly, a special nephew Steve Willerding, his wife Kathi and their children, Jill and Matt; also twin sisters, Mary and Betty; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held Monday March 13, 2017 at 10am at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9724 Cross Creek Blvd, Tampa. Viewing will be one hour before the 10am service. Entombment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Trinity, Florida. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Mark’s Capital Campaign 9724 Cross Creek Blvd, Tampa, Florida 33647.
