Generosa A. Vidal's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Generosa (Gení) Vidal––our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend––on April 30, 2023, at the age of 90. We are saddened at her departure from among us, but we are joyful over the assurance that she departed peacefully to be with her Savior & Lord, Jesus Christ.
Generosa was born on April 18, 1933, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to Alvaro and Regalada (Roldan) Acevedo. She grew up in a large and close-knit family and was the fifth of seven children. She was married and blessed with seven children who were the joy of her life.
Generosa was a woman of many talents. She was a resourceful homemaker and also an industrious entrepreneur in direct sales, arts and crafts, jewelry design, retail, and worked in the textile industry before retiring. She had a generous and giving spirit, always ready to help those in need. She had a sweet smile and a great sense of humor.
Generosa loved all her family and extended family immensely. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who brought her much happiness and joy. She also had many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own children. She cherished every moment she spent with her large family.
Generosa was transformed later in life when she truly heard the Gospel for the first time and trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior. She began reading God's Word and attending church regularly. Her love blossomed for others and her family grew to include many brothers and sisters in Christ. She was baptized at the same service with her daughter Leticia at Iglesia Bautista Latino Americana (Tampa, FL); then later, she became a long-time member at Carrollwood Baptist Church (Tampa, FL). She had a strong faith and a deep relationship with God. She was an example of His grace, joy, and peace to all who knew her.
Generosa was much loved and will be greatly missed by her surviving children: Camille, Leticia, Robert, Alverto, Carlos, and their spouses; her grandchildren and their spouses, and great-grandchildren; her surviving siblings: Laureana, and Joseph and spouse; her nieces, nephews, and their families; her church family; and many other relatives and friends. Generosa was predeceased by her parents; her eldest and youngest daughters, Norma and Nereida, respectively; her siblings: Julita, Juan, Daniela, Ismael, and their spouses.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, located at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, FL 34655.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, Funeral service at 12:30 PM, with Graveside service immediately following.
