Gayle Klar Lund's Obituary
It is with deep sadness the Lund Family announces the passing of Gayle Klar Lund, 75, on December 19, 2024. Gayle was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on December 2, 1949, to parents Edwin “Eddie” and Miriam Klar. She was raised in Tampa, Florida and graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1967. Gayle attended the University of South Florida in Tampa for 2 years where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She met her future husband, John Lund while attending USF and they were married at Calvary United Methodist church in Tampa on December 6, 1969. Gayle transferred to the University of Florida in Gainesville to be with John while he attended law school and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.
Following graduation, the couple lived in Washington DC from 1972-1974 and then returned to Tampa to start their family. Their daughter Erika was born in 1974 and their son, Ryan was born in 1976. Gayle worked from home as a court reporter on federal grand jury cases for over 10 years which allowed her to be both a stay-at-home mom and devoted wife for many years.
Gayle was an active member at Idlewild Baptist Church since 1987 and the Lund family was baptized there together. Gayle was very involved with Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and served as a group leader, a Class Administrator for 11 years, and the area Class Administrator (CA) for another 11 years.
Gayle was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother “Mimi”, and sister. She is preceded in death by her father, Edwin Francis Klar; mother, Miriam Dillard Klar; and her sister, Victoria Klar Williams. She is survived by her husband John Lund, daughter, Erika Gayle Lund Wyant (Jon); son, Ryan David Lund (Gina); brother Louis Klar (Karen); grandchildren, William Lund, Cassidy Meyer, Cason Meyer, Andrew Lund, Ava Lund and step grandchildren Preston, Andrew and Anna Wyant; nephews Michael Klar, Matthew Klar, Mark Klar, Eric Williams; nieces Emily Williams Miller and Marie Klar Stroud.
Gayle touched the lives of many with her warmth and gentle kindness and servant leadership. Those of us who knew her will always carry the memory of her loving, kind and gracious soul in our hearts forever.
