Fredesvinda Amaro's Obituary
Fredesvinda "Freddy" Amaro, 87, formerly of Dartmouth, MA passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024, in Rutherfordton, NC. Those left to celebrate her life are her children; son William Amaro and his wife Jean of Ellenboro, NC; her daughter Gladys Amaro-Messier and her husband Richard of Rutherfordton, NC; her 6 grandchildren Micheal and Matthew Valler, Corey and Ashley Amaro, Seth and Ethan Messier; her 6 great-grandchildren Alison, Aubrey, Kayla, Justine, Ashton, and Maxwell; and her great-great granddaughter Nova. She was preceded in passing by her husband Jesus Amaro, her daughter Evelyn (Amaro) Valler, and her parents Simeon Morales and Leonor (Hernandez) Morales.
Born December 28,1936 in Mayaguez, PR, Freddy came to New York at a young age with her father and was later joined by her mother and siblings to reside in Brooklyn, NY. She married Jesus Amaro at a young age and quickly began a family. She became a member of The International Ladies Garment Workers Union as a seamstress/piece worker at Paul Modes Factory in New Bedford, MA. She was a member of South Baptist Church. Freddy enjoyed her activities with the Womens Circle. She took night classes at Voke Technical High School for cake decorating. This came in handy, as she was known for her cakes at church. She was very supportive of her husband's endeavors, taking on the roles of secretary, bookkeeper, and landlord. Her greatest role was that of a wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren.
