Frank Donald Vitacco's Obituary
Frank Donald Vitacco, a devoted family man, Korean War veteran, and successful entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at the age of 95. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 11, 1930, to Rose and Anthony Vitacco, Frank served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Cavalry during the Korean War, earning the Bronze Star Medal. His compassion extended beyond the battlefield; during the U.S. occupation of Japan, he sponsored an orphanage, introducing the children to baseball. After retiring early from Charles Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in 1975, Frank relocated three generations of his family to New Port Richey, Florida. There, he reinvented himself as a Master Electrician, establishing Security Electric, which wired new home construction in Port Richey, New Port Richey, and Trinity. He also owned rental properties in downtown New Port Richey.
Frank’s life was deeply intertwined with his beloved wife, Gloria Martini. They met as teenagers through a family connection and married in 1952. Their three sons were named in honor of Frank’s fellow servicemen. Having been raised by his paternal grandmother after the loss of his mother in childbirth, Frank profoundly valued family.
Known for his charming and social nature, Frank possessed a remarkable sense of humor. He never met a stranger, found joy in acts of service and kindness, and always welcomed a cup of black coffee. A formidable Pinochle player, he also delighted in hosting annual cruise vacations for his extended family during retirement.
Frank is survived by his wife of nearly 73 years, Gloria; sister-in-law, Priscilla Martini Muralo; sons Mark Donald of Raleigh, NC, and Gary Alfred of Trinity; daughter-in-law, Penny; and son-in-law, Oscar.
Frank's life was a masterclass in love, resilience, and the enduring power of family, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be honored with a Catholic Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Saturday, August 23rd at 11:00 am. Frank will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Bushnell on Friday, October 3rd, at 2:00 pm, before a celebration of life is held in his memory at the Hacienda Hotel on October 4h at 11:00 am.
