Frank Karl Schiek's Obituary
Karl Schiek (84) of Land O’ Lakes Florida passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on August 3, 1938, to Frank and Mildred Schiek. Karl lived in New Castle, Pennsylvania until he was ten. In 1948 his family moved to a suburb of Chicago. Karl graduated from Wheaton High School, learned the small engine trade, and then went into business with his father and brother.
Karl met Dorothy Kleinjan in Wheaton, Illinois while Dorothy was attending Wheaton College. They were married in Volga, South Dakota in 1961. They lived in Glen Ellyn, Illinois until 1974 when they moved to Land O’ Lakes, Florida. Karl continued to work as a service representative in the small engine field.
Upon his retirement, he had the time do what he enjoyed most, spending time with his granddaughter, Rachel. He also enjoyed working on old cars and lawnmowers.
Karl served as a Deacon in the local church for many years. His church and its ministry were an important part of his life.
Karl is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Dorothy, brother Jim Schiek and sister Bonne Schiek Taylor and brother-in-law Chan Pike.
He is survived by his only daughter Kristin (Brian) Greene, only granddaughter, Rachel Greene, sister-in law Marge Pike, brothers-in-law Jack Taylor, Jim (Bev) Kleinjan, Tom (Carol) Kleinjan and Russ (Barb) Kleinjan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Karl was blessed to have accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He was blessed to have a soulmate who had the same life changing experience. He is now in his heavenly home rejoicing with his loved ones that have gone before him.
