Frank Barthel's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Frank John Barthel. With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Frank John Barthel, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed this world on December 3, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on July 15, 1947, in Sewickley, PA, Frank's life was marked by love, dedication, and generosity. He was a proud and devoted father to three children: Michele Corrow, Michael Barthel, and Maggie Wimberly, who were the light of his life. He treasured every moment with them, offering wisdom, laughter, and unwavering support.
Frank shared a special bond with his brother Ralph Barthel, creating a lifetime of cherished memories from childhood adventures to shared milestones as adults. A man of great character and kindness, Frank touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. Whether through his warm smile, thoughtful words, or steadfast support, he left an indelible mark on many hearts.
His friends and community remember him as a pillar of strength and compassion. Frank was passionate about teaching mathematics, creating a jazz band at GMHS, announcing his children's soccer matches at LOLHS, attending their games and special events, and enjoying celebrations with his grandchildren. His dedication inspired those around him, and he lived a life filled with purpose, never giving up (he was blessed with more than a cat’s nine lives!).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Margaret Barthel of Coraopolis, PA. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Barthel, and his cherished children: Michele Corrow (Chris, Ethan, Josh, Jada, and Gavin), Michael Barthel (Michelle, Adalynn, and Hazel), Maggie Wimberly (Billy, Paisley, Finley, and Tinsley), his loving brother Ralph Barthel (Chrissy, Zach, Missy, Morgan, and Kate), and a host of family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
