Frances Bucaria's Obituary
Frances Bucaria died peacefully on February 15, 2024, at Life Care Center of Estero, Florida. She was 101 years old. Frances’ heart was full of love for her family and the Lord. She was a caring and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Frances was born on November 13, 1922, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of Giovanni and Giuseppa Cristina, who moved to America from Marsala, Sicily. She lived with her parents and siblings (Katie, Ralph, and Allie) in East New York. Frances married Sebastian Bucaria on November 8, 1942, and they raised three children. Their life was centered around the Catholic church and time spent with extended family. Sebastian and Frances moved to Long Island in the 1960’s and hosted many Sunday dinners. They loved their role as grandparents. They also loved music, dancing, and traveling to Europe.
Sebastian and Frances spent several years living in New Port Richey, Florida until Sebastian passed away just short of their 60th wedding anniversary. Frances resided at an Independent Living Facility, now called The Summit of Fort Myers, for almost 18 years. She took pride in her independence and was an inspiration to all the other residents who affectionately called her Grandma. She enjoyed her visits, phone calls, and cookie care packages!
Frances loved God and family above all else. She was very religious, and steadfastly attended St. Columbkille R.C. Church in Fort Myers until unable to do so physically. She always encouraged her family to love one another and trust in the Lord. Though there is comfort that she is home now, she will be missed tremendously.
Frances was the devoted mother of Raymond Bucaria and his wife Julia, Richard Bucaria, and Mary Taylor. She was the warm, nurturing grandmother of Theresa, Debbie, Patti, Lori, Christopher, Alicia, James, and Kimberly. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Brendan, Sean, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Matthew, Erik, Luke, Jack, Juliette, Samantha, Michael, Andrew, Jacqueline, Dillon, and Jayden.
Her viewing will be held on February 20, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at Trinity Memorial Gardens. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church on February 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens at 12:00 pm
