Ernest Harvey Wartenberg's Obituary
88, passed away at home in New Port Richey on April 1, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Born on October 28, 1936, in Washington, D.C., and raised in Anacostia Heights, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956 and served as a pilot until his honorable discharge in 1976 as a Lieutenant Commander. While in the Navy, he completed his bachelor’s degree at Rollins College in 1967. Following his retirement from the Navy, he was employed by A.G. Edwards & Sons and later served as a legal guardian in Pinellas County until his retirement. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Dunedin, and was twice honored as their Rotarian of the Year. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sara; sisters Mary Aley and Dorothy Wartenberg; daughter Donna; sons Eric, Paul, and Philip (Karen); grandchildren Ryan Wartenberg, Natasha Slaby, Thomas Wartenberg, and Andrew Wartenberg; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private Celebration of Life will be held.
