Elsie W. Martinez's Obituary
Elsie “Tonya” Wallace Martinez, age 86, of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026. Born on January 27, 1940, in Mobile, Alabama, to Wallace Wright Milham and Elsie Wallace Milham, she grew up to become a woman of grace, warmth, and enduring spirit.
Tonya spent the greater part of her life in Tampa, where she built a career in the beauty industry representing Lancôme. Known for her sweet nature, kind heart, and quick wit, she had a gift for brightening every room she entered. She took great joy in cooking and cherished every moment spent in the company of her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Martinez; her parents, Wallace Wright Milham and Elsie Wallace Milham; her brothers, Thomas W. Milham and Bill Milham; and her brother-in-law, John Martinez.
Tonya is survived by her niece, Lisette Normann; and her nephews, Wallace Milham II (Miriam), John Milham (Andrea), and Geoff Milham (Laura). She is also lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law, James E. Martinez (Sylvia); her nephew, John Martinez Jr. (Kornrakun), of Orlando; and her nieces, Chrissy Kavanagh and Cathy Goins; her stepson, Russell Martinez; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date in Fairhope, Alabama, where she lived for many years and always wanted to come home to. Details will be announced as they become available.
Tonya will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace
