Elizabeth Hinton's Obituary
Elizabeth “Beth” Hinton, 47, of New Port Richey, passed away on May 5, 2024, following a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born April 12, 1977, in Bloomington, Indiana to Ron and Shirley Hinton, one of two children along with her brother Mark. She spent the first half of her life in Indiana, residing in North Vernon, and receiving her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in 2000. Following her graduation from Ball State, she relocated to New Port Richey, Florida and attended the University of South Florida, receiving two master’s degrees in Instructional Technologies in 2006 and Educational Leadership in 2009. She enjoyed a career in education at Pasco County Schools, SMART Technology, and Charter Schools USA. She was both loved by her students and respected by faculty, advancing to positions of assistant principal and principal within the Pasco County school system.
On a fateful Memorial Day weekend in 2010, Beth met Steven Miller, and her greatest love story began. Beth and Steve hit it off immediately, and never looked back. The couple were married on December 31, 2015. They enjoyed nothing more than having adventures together, spending time outdoors, camping, and boating or sailing. They traveled even through her final days, with Steve accompanying her on several trips to Europe, exploring the world together while she received treatments overseas.
Beth was a force of nature all through her life. She will be remembered for her magnetic personality that never failed to draw people in, and her smile that lit up every room she ever entered. She loved to run, and took great pride in her achievements, completing a half marathon in 2011 and a full marathon in 2014. Although she did not become a music teacher as she had planned, she maintained a lifelong passion and talent for music, which she conveyed to the world as a violinist with the Tampa Bay Symphony.
Beth is survived by her husband Steven Miller, her parents Ron and Shirley Hinton, and her beloved niece Abriann Hinton. She was preceded in death by her brother Mark Hinton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Elizabeth’s honor to Metropolitan Ministries, a hospice facility, or any local musical education charity.
