Elizabeth Ann (Andrews) Gauvin 1942 -2025
Elizabeth “Betty” Gauvin, 82, of Hudson, Florida died at home on Saturday January 18, 2025
Betty was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island on March 25, 1942, to Gloria Lillian (Pepin) and Anthony Arthur Andrews. She moved to South Attleboro, Massachusetts and graduated from Attleboro High School in 1959. She worked as an assistant dietician, various retail and banking positions during her early married life and child rearing years. During early 1970’s Betty pursued a career in Nursing Home Administration relocating to Florida in the mid 1980’s leading several large Nursing Homes. Later in life, she ventured into social work, always recalling those times as the most rewarding of her careers. Betty loved people. She made a difference in every life she touched with her warm charisma and caring nature. Being nice to people came naturally to her.
Betty’s talents ranged from cooking, sewing, avid organist, oil painting, Thursday night bowling league in Rhode Island followed by weekly fun at the Twin Oaks with the team, singing in the St. Leo Choir in Dade City, Florida. Always most important to her was any time spent with family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her father Anthony Arthur Andrews, mother Gloria Lillian (Pepin) Andrews Grimley, father of her children Gerard “Pete” Gauvin, siblings Gloria Bennett (Jim), Marie Andrews, Barbara (Andrews) Reed, Anthony Andrews (Claire), Raymond Andrews and Michael Andrews.
Betty is survived by her children Peter J. Gauvin and husband William J. Harvey of Hendersonville, N.C., Cheryl Ann (Gauvin) Couto Carberry of Coventry, R.I. and Scott J. and wife Julie Gauvin of Hudson, Florida. Additionally, five grandchildren; Nicole (Couto) and husband William “Taylor” Elliott of Coventry R.I., Sara and Shane Carberry of Coventry, R.I., Mia and Madelynn “Maddy” Gauvin of Hudson, Florida; and five great grandchildren; Aiden, Callie, Colbie, Anabela and Mason Elliott all of Coventry Rhode Island. Betty is also preceded by the late Manuel F. Couto, beloved father of Nicole (Couto) Elliott.
Betty is additionally survived by siblings Janice and husband Paul Danesi, John and wife LeeAnn Andrews, and Mark and wife Cheryll Andrews; and sisters- in law Debra Andrews (Raymond), Patricia Andrews (Michael), numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday January 27, 2025, at Trinity Memorial Gardens 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity Florida 34665 at 11:30 AM. A Catholic prayer service and burial will follow starting at noon. The family will be planning a Celebration of Life for Betty later in Rhode Island. All family and
friends are invited to attend. The family will send out dates and details when confirmed and asks for your patience as they grieve. The family requests you reserve sending any flowers until the Celebration of Life where they can be enjoyed by the entire family.
