Edwin L Bourdeau's Obituary
Edwin L. Bourdeau, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Rucki Hospice Care Center in Zephyrhills, Florida after a long battle with lung disease.
Edwin was born December 2, 1941, in Waukegan, Illinois, a son of the late Edwin and Amy Bourdeau.
Edwin served his country in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War and settled back in Waukegan, Illinois where he worked at Abbott Laboratories for 35 years and retired early at the age of 55. Edwin was a member of the Tampa Bay Antique Vehicle Association. He enjoyed building cars from different eras and tinkering in the garage. Edwin was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. His proudest achievement was his children’s accomplishments.
Despite many health challenges, Edwin remained resilient, independent and grateful. He did not let his illness interfere with getting projects done.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters Eleanor Kinsey & Mary Alice Jones.
Edwin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judith Bourdeau and their children David Bourdeau (Tracy), Vickie Dilport (David) and Tim Bourdeau (Jessica), nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Along with many other family and friends who sadly miss and forever remember him.
A memorial service will be held May 28, 2026, at 11am in St. Andrews’s Episcopal Church, 509 E. Twiggs St. (Downtown) Tampa, Florida and a celebration of life following. We invite all who knew and loved Edwin to join us in honoring his memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church (813.221.2035) or Gulfside Hospice (800.561.4883).
