I came to know Eddie and his wife, Pat, when they were living in Gainesville, Florida. I met them in approximately 2005 at a karaoke bar in Gainesville called Emeralds. Eddie loved to sing, particularly songs by Elvis. I would often jokingly call Eddie Elvis.
I eventually bought my own portable karaoke system and began to sing at retirement homes and a senior daycare center in Gainesville. I asked Eddie to sing with me at these events and he graciously agreed. Over the years, we probably performed several dozen times together. Pat was always there to cheer us on. I have great memories of those times.
I grew extremely fond of Eddie and Pat. They were as close to being a perfectly matched couple as I have ever known. They both had wonderful senses of humor. They were both nothing but kind to me and everyone else who knew them.
I sincerely hope that one day I can reunite with them for one more karaoke show. I have the perfect song in mind for me and Eddie to perform together: "Rock and Roll Heaven" by the Righteous Brothers. I am sure Pat will be there to cheer us on.
My sincere condolences to their family members and friends.
