Edward J. Nessler Jr's Obituary
Trinity, Florida -Edward J. Nessler Jr., 86, passed away peacefully, August 10, 2023, with his daughter by his side. Edward was born December 12, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Edward J. Nessler Sr. and Mary Nessler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary and sister Eve Venafro. Ed graduated high school from LaSalle (Philadelphia, PA) in 1955, and attended Villanova University, graduating in 1959. He was proud of his 30 year career as a civilian contractor for the Department of the Army in Monmouth, NJ. Edward was a beloved husband, father, brother and PopPop.
Edward was the proud father of three children, Edward J. Nessler III (Suzanne), Anthony J. Nessler (Elizabeth) and Rosemary Mazur (Kevin). Edward is survived by his 3 children, his sister, Maryellen Horne (Edward Horne) of Philadelphia, PA ,and his greatest loves, his nine grandchildren whom he adored, Edward J. Nessler IV “Jay.” Evan Burrell, Nicholas Nessler, Madelyn Nessler “Maddy,” Anthony J. Nessler Jr “AJ," Brady Nessler, Evelyn Nessler “Evie,” Jack Mazur and Aiden Mazur. Additionally, Ed was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first great grandchild next month, his namesake, Edward J. “Quinn” Nessler V.
Edward was devoted to his family and his faith. He and his wife raised their children in Toms River, NJ before retiring to the Tampa, FL area in the mid 1990’s. Devout in his Catholic faith, Ed could be found in “his” back pew at St. Vincent de Paul, his longtime parish, every Sunday morning, only missing mass when he became ill. He had a keen interest in politics and spent most days absorbing the issues of the day. Edward’s favorite hobbies were grocery shopping, cooking, crossword puzzles and watching his
grandchildren play sports. Edward’s pride and love for his family was unmatched. He will be dearly missed.
Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Dr., Trinity, FL. Edward will be buried in a traditional Catholic Mass on Wednesday, August 16, 11:00 AM at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Holiday, FL, with interment to follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Trinity, FL.
