Edward A. Dorne's Obituary
Dorne, Edward A., 87, of Trinity, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on September 13, 2015 after a long illness. He was born on August 29, 1928 in Bridgeport, CT. Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia (Ginny) Christenson Dorne; daughters, Nancy (John) Nilsen and Debbie (James) Krotki; son, Eric (Sue) Dorne; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
Prior to his retirement, Ed was in management for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) for 43 years located in the state of Connecticut. He was also an active participant in the government in the town of Fairfield until he relocated to Florida. Ed also served the country he loved so much in the Army National Guard for over 10 years. In his retirement, he and Ginny made their home in Trinity, Florida.
Ed became very active in the community in which they lived. He enjoyed bowling, bocce, talking politics, reading history and shooting pool with the guys at the club. Ed had a lifelong passion for his beloved Boston Red Sox which he shared with his family and created unforgettable memories. Ed will be remembered by his family and friends as an outstanding, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and person. His memories and legacy will never be forgotten and he will be thought of everyday.
The services to celebrate Ed’s long and fulfilling life will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens on Thursday, September 17 with friends received from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30. Per the request of the family, in lieu of flowers,, donations may be made to HPH Hospice in appreciation for the compassionate and wonderful care they provided Ed during these past months.
