Edward Joseph Croissant's Obituary
Edward Joseph Croissant, 84 years of age, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Mease Countryside Hospital.
Edward was born September 11, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Thomas and Doris Croissant. He was the sixth of nine children, four of whom preceded him in death. Edward married the love of his life the late Carol Croissant in 1960 and had their only child Edward Thomas Croissant in 1964. Edward served four years in the United States Navy and then became a New York City Police Officer in 1962. Edward served in many roles at NYPD rising to the rank of Sergeant. His assignments included Uniform Patrol, Street Anti-Crime, Detective Squad and eventually to the second Whip of the prestigious Brooklyn North Homicide Task Force operating out of the 90th Precinct before retiring in 1990. Edward was a highly decorated Member of Service. Edward and Carol owned their own Irish Gift Shop in Long Island “Kilkelly Cottage”. Edward became tired of shoveling snow and the two of them set off for sunny Florida where they met other fellow retired New Yorkers and spent their remaining days. Edward leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Edward Thomas Croissant (Lisa Vern Croissant) and his two Granddaughters Caitlin Sinead Parrish (Charles Parrish) and Mikayla Siobhan Croissant, his Sisters Patricia “Patsy” Lennon, Geraldine “Penny” Todaro (Thomas Todaro) and Doris Ballback and his Brother William “Billy” Croissant, and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends that are like family.
