Edward A Becker's Obituary
Edward Anthony “Ed” Becker of Lutz FL died December 19, 2022, after a six-year battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband to Dawn (DePuy), his wife of 29 years, and a wonderfully supportive father to his children Cameron and Grace. He will long be remembered for his witty sense of humor and his kindness to everyone he met.
Ed was born in Natick, Massachusetts on December 13, 1959. He spent his childhood in the Boston area and graduated from Boston College in 1984 with a degree in Economics. He then moved to Tampa to attend the University of South Florida, where he obtained a master’s degree in Business Administration. He had a long career in Healthcare Analytics and took pride in mentoring and inspiring young professionals.
Ed was a lifelong sports enthusiast. He played competitive tennis, was a huge supporter of junior golf, and loved the professional sports teams from Tampa and Boston. He also cherished two decades of camaraderie from his family’s fantasy football league, culminating with his induction into their Hall of Fame.
During the last years of Ed’s life, he was comforted by his beloved rescue dog, Luna. He loved sharing stories and photos of Luna with his worldwide network of dog lovers.
Ed is predeceased by his father, Robert L. Becker, and his sister Sheila Gailius. He is survived by: his mother Cecilia of Providence, RI; sister Teresa Martinez of Providence, RI, her husband David, and their children Michael, Christina, Marianna, John, and James; brother-in-law Gib Gailius of Milton, MA, and children Tim, Caroline, Jeffrey, Jeanna, Jonathan, and Kevin; brother Fr.
